The Apel.les Fenosa Foundation

The Apel.les Fenosa Foundation is opening to the public from Tuesday to Saturday 11:00 am - 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm; the Sunday and holidays, 11:00 am - 2:00 pm; closed the Monday.

The Foundation is located in El Vendrell, in the province of Tarragona, Catalonia (Spain), in the home and summer studio of the sculptor, a restored XVIth. century house with a Mediterranean garden.

Encouraged by Picasso, Apel.les Fenosa (1899-1988) created, in France and Catalonia, a considerable number of sculptures, hailed by the greatest poets of his time : Carles Riba, Joseph Carner, Salvador Espriu, Max Jacob, Jean Cocteau, Paul Eluard, Henri Michaux, Jules Supervielle, Francis Ponge…

The Foundation wil have on show a permanent collection of the capital sculptures in baked clay and plaster, part of the « fonds d’atelier » of the artist, as well as a selection of monumental-sized bronzes.

The main aim of the Foundation is to protect and promote the artist’s work and also provide documentation thereon. The originals of Fenosa’s work will be kept by the Foundation as well as the archives. The Foundation will be organizing, for the regional, national and international public, temporary exhibitions and various cultural activities devoted to Fenosa and contemporary artists.
